Conundrum Gigs

Tailgate Bar & Grill, Gray – June 10, 2023
– Another good overall show at Tailgate. Brian and Sue weren’t behind the bar for the first tme. Tony wasn’t feeling well, but played well and his vocals were really strong. It was pretty empty when we started, but many band friends filtered in and there was a steady crowd all night. A millenial-aged woman near the stage yelled out “Fuck Yeah!” when we played “Here I Go Again,” which made me smile. I played Mark’s EVH for 2 sets to try it out and it really stands out. Much brighter than any guitar I’ve tried.

Spring Point Tavern, South Portland – May 13, 2022
– This was our best gig at SPT, by far, and probably our best overall. There were about a dozen people there when we started and about 20 more from a wedding party arrived during the 2nd set. They all stayed and about 10-12 of them started line dancing to Copperhead Road when we opened the 3rd set. Overall, we kept the place packed all night and got lots of compliments on the music, from both the patrons and the staff.

Spring Point Tavern, South Portland – March 4, 2022
– Our first time back at SPT since getting back together. We played really well and the manager repeatedly said “We killed it tonight!” Once again, not a great crowd though.

Tailgate Bar & Grill, Gray – February 18, 2023
– Tony was able to rejoin the band in January, after receiving a different type of chemo treatment. This was our first gig back after the layoff and it went well and we had a good crowd. We started doing the AIC songs in E flat, and that helped a lot. Overall, this was one of our best performances to date and was a great way to get back at it.

Mill House Pub, Mechanic Falls – October 8, 2022
– Unfortunately, we had to cancel this show, as Tony’s chemo treatments are hurting him. We also had to cancel a November 3rd date at Spring Point Tavern. This led to Tony needing to leave the band in December.

Tailgate Bar & Grill, Gray – October 1, 2022
– Unfortunately, we had to cancel this show, as Tony was recovering from several cancer treatments.

Pat’s Pizza, Yarmouth – September 24, 2022
– Our first show at Pat’s and they stuffed us in a corner in the dining room. The owner liked us and said he’d book us again, but I’m not sure we’ll return. He told us before we started that we needed to keep the volume down, as our role is to be background noise for the dinner crowd. It was a weird feeling playing to the dinner crowd and not really what we’re all about.

Spring Point Tavern, South Portland – September 3, 2022
– Our second of three shows there, this one on Labor Day weekend. Another show with lots of people outside and not many inside. We played well.

Tailgate Bar & Grill, Gray – August 20, 2022
– Our first time playing at the Tailgate, which is one of my favorite rooms to play. We brought a good crowd, including the Conundrum Dancers, and it was the owner’s 30th Anniversary that night, so it was a great show. They booked us for several more shows that night.

American Legion Sanford/Springvale – August 13, 2022
– An afternoon, outside show on a hot day, for Member Appreciation Day at the Legion. Good crowd and they fed us, but this seemed a lot like work.

O’Donohughes, Brunswick – July 30, 2022
– A good summer night show, although there were more people across the street for the band at Pat’s Pizza than in our crowd. We may try to book into Pat’s in the future.

Spring Point Tavern, South Portland – July 23, 2022
– Our first of three shows there. This one went well, although most of the crowd hung out in the back, outside section, so although the bar did well, we didn’t have many people inside watching us. Lots of compliments after the show though.

Waterboro Elks Club – July 16, 2022
– Our worst show to date. We started at 1:00 pm on a Saturday afternoon and the crowd was considerably older than our typical listeners and not into the music we played at all – even the 1st set easy-listening songs. They were expecting a solo acoustic artist and said we were to loud. This venue was not a good fit for Conundrum and we won’t be returning.

Spring Point Tavern, South Portland – June 4, 2022
– Our first time at Spring Point Tavern. Fun place to play and the owner said we were great. They booked us for three more shows that night.

American Legion Sanford/Springvale – April 3, 2022
– A good afternoon show playing inside for the Legion members. They want us back for a summer show, outside.

Chaps Saloon, Buxton – Sunday Funday – February 27, 2022
– The first show in a series of Sunday afternoon shows at Chaps. We brought a good crowd.

Chaps Saloon, Buxton – Toys For Tots Benefit – December 4, 2021
– Lots of bands on the bill, small crowd though

Mixers Nightclub, Sabbatus – October 16, 2021 (with Broken Theory)
– Fun show, one set opening for Broken Theory

O’Donohughes, Brunswick – September 4, 2021
– Our first Official gig
